Wildfire in Brandon: help Orchard village rebuild
Neighbors in Orchard village are rebuilding after the wildfire; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The wildfire hit Orchard village on 20 April. My home was one of 86 damaged, and 14 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $2,550 goes:
• Food parcels for displaced families: $680
• Tools and labor for repairs: $810
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,060
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Hang in there. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double
Sending good thoughts, Valentina. Your post was clear and honest. I have a 15 year old who wants to send good wishes too.
You're not alone. Shared this with my family. Love from Brandon.
