The the Sunday Shelf pantry in Zapopan is running low just as demand rises; $700 will stock it for 12 weeks.

Zapopan
Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Thursday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 18 families, and now we feed 206 each week. Donations have dropped by about 56% this winter, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Zapopan market and keep every receipt. Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $700 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $410 • Baby formula and diapers: $85 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $205 With deep gratitude, Esperanza

  • Sending love, Esperanza. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from Gangnam.
