The the Sunday Shelf pantry in Shreveport is running low just as demand rises; $1,650 will stock it for 11 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Wednesday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 8 families, and now we feed 342 each week. Donations have dropped by about 59% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 13 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Shreveport market and keep every receipt. Each $45 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $1,650 goes: • Refrigeration and electricity: $135 • Baby formula and diapers: $250 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,265 Thank you for reading my story. - Ariana
