The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in San Nicolás de los Garza is running low just as demand rises; $1,200 will stock it for 6 weeks.

San Nicolás de los Garza
Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Tuesday from the back of a community center. We started with 25 families, and now we feed 69 each week. Donations have dropped by about 49% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the San Nicolás de los Garza market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $1,200 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $610 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $320 • Baby formula and diapers: $165 • Refrigeration and electricity: $105 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Emilio

  • Sending good thoughts, Emilio. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. God bless.

    • Wishing you peace, Emilio. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We're a small family in Mohammedia but we're thinking of you.
