Weekly meals for students and shift workers in Rio de Janeiro
The Community Pantry pantry in Rio de Janeiro is running low just as demand rises; $500 will stock it for 6 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Tuesday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 25 families, and now we feed 338 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 41% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 15 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Rio de Janeiro market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $500 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $250
• Baby formula and diapers: $150
• Refrigeration and electricity: $100
I hope life is good to you.

Good luck. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 4 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.
