Newport
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Saturday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 29 families, and now we feed 203 each week. Donations have dropped by about 47% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 10 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Newport market and keep every receipt. Each $25 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $2,500 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,000 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $950 • Baby formula and diapers: $220 • Refrigeration and electricity: $330 Thanks for being kind about this. - Vivian

Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We're a small family in Novosibirsk but we're thinking of you. Take care.
