Weekly meals for students and shift workers in Nashik

The Open Hands Pantry pantry in Nashik is running low just as demand rises; $300 will stock it for 6 weeks.

Nashik

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Monday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 24 families, and now we feed 242 each week. Donations have dropped by about 34% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 11 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Nashik market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $300 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $190 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $70 • Refrigeration and electricity: $40 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people. - Yogesh

Updates from Yogesh

Good news. Because of your gifts ($35 in total) I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
