Weekly meals for students and shift workers in Madrid
Yolanda runs a volunteer pantry feeding 264 families; this fund restocks shelves for the school holidays.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Saturday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 264 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 32% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Madrid market and keep every receipt.
Each $35 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,150 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,100
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $480
• Baby formula and diapers: $420
• Refrigeration and electricity: $150
Thank you so much.
Updates from Yolanda
Good news. Because of your gifts ($120 in total) I made the first payment toward baby formula and diapers. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
