Ikeja
Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Saturday from the back of a community center. We started with 8 families, and now we feed 287 each week. Donations have dropped by about 38% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 18 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Ikeja market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $300 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $165 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $65 • Baby formula and diapers: $55 • Refrigeration and electricity: $15 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly. - Okechukwu

  • hope things get better soon, Okechukwu. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Nashik.
