Weekly meals for students and shift workers in El Paso

The Neighbors' Pantry pantry in El Paso is running low just as demand rises; $2,800 will stock it for 11 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Tuesday from the back of a community center. We started with 17 families, and now we feed 215 each week. Donations have dropped by about 50% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the El Paso market and keep every receipt. Each $25 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $2,800 goes: • Refrigeration and electricity: $220 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,950 • Baby formula and diapers: $630 If you're reading this, thank you.
