Weekly meals for students and shift workers in Duque de Caxias
Leonardo runs a volunteer pantry feeding 223 families; this fund restocks shelves for the winter.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Monday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 16 families, and now we feed 223 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 53% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 10 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Duque de Caxias market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $700 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $250
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $260
• Baby formula and diapers: $140
• Refrigeration and electricity: $50
