Weekly meals for students and shift workers in Daegu
Help keep a free food pantry open for students and shift workers in Daegu.
🇰🇷 Daegu, South Korea1,690 views
Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Thursday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 11 families, and now we feed 116 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 58% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Daegu market and keep every receipt.
Each $20 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $1,950 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $960
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $360
• Baby formula and diapers: $430
• Refrigeration and electricity: $200
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

take care, Ji-hye. I hope things turn around soon. I'm in logistics myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
Rooting for you. Great idea, hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from Rome.
You're not alone. This could happen to any of us. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. God bless.
Best of luck. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Seoul.
Best of luck, Ji-hye. Great idea, hope you get there. Take care
Sending strength, Ji-hye. Hope this works out for you
