Barranquilla
Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Monday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 26 families, and now we feed 220 each week. Donations have dropped by about 56% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Barranquilla market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $300 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $175 • Baby formula and diapers: $65 • Refrigeration and electricity: $60 Thank you for reading my story.

Updates from Andrés

  1. Thank you all. We're at 20% now ($60). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Update from Barranquilla: the plan for baby formula and diapers is now scheduled. We're at 20% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. Wanted to say thank you properly. 12% funded and I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. - Andrés

This could happen to any of us. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Barranquilla.
