Weekly meals for students and shift workers in Bacolod
Gerald runs a volunteer pantry feeding 170 families; this fund restocks shelves for the winter.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Monday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 30 families, and now we feed 170 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 38% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Bacolod market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $600 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $320
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $165
• Baby formula and diapers: $30
• Refrigeration and electricity: $85
I hope life is good to you.

sending love, Gerald. More neighborhoods should do this. Love from El Paso.
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Gerald
Sure. The biggest one is rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale), $320. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Let me know if you want more detail.
Hope it all works out. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Take care.
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 2 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Shared this with my family. My colleague had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care.
can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Bacolod
Thank you. If you're in Bacolod I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great.
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 19 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Campinas.
Hang in there. More neighborhoods should do this. Sent it to 34 people at work. Thinking of Bacolod.
Stay strong, Gerald. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Thinking of Bacolod.
You're not alone, Gerald. Hope this works out for you.
Stay strong. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected
wishing you the best. Great idea, hope you get there. All the best.
Sending good thoughts. Hope you get there. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money
Keep going. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Take care.
Thinking of you and your family, Gerald. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I'm in logistics myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. God bless.
Hope it all works out, Gerald. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Wish I lived closer to Nakhon Ratchasima so I could bring a meal. Blessings
So sorry you're going through this. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I have a 5 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Love from Mbale.
Keep going, Gerald. Shared this with my family. My husband and I read this together. Greetings from Belém.
