Arusha
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Monday from the back of a community center. We started with 20 families, and now we feed 344 each week. Donations have dropped by about 42% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Arusha market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $250 goes: • Refrigeration and electricity: $35 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $105 • Baby formula and diapers: $110 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Wanjiru

Refrigeration and electricity is $35 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks for looking so closely.

  • Good luck, Wanjiru. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in
