Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Tuesday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 93 each week. Donations have dropped by about 32% this winter, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 10 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Salvador market and keep every receipt. Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $750 goes: • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $220 • Baby formula and diapers: $85 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $445 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

    • keep going, Amanda. More neighborhoods should do this. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.

Sure. The biggest one is fresh vegetables and fruit, $220. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Ask me anything else.

            • Hang in there, Amanda. Hope you get there. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

              • Praying for you, Amanda. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Seongnam
