Weekly meals for neighbors in need in Rohini
The the Sunday Shelf pantry in Rohini is running low just as demand rises; $400 will stock it for 8 weeks.
🇮🇳 Rohini, Delhi, India857 views
Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Thursday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 24 families, and now we feed 355 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 47% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Rohini market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $400 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $200
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $125
• Baby formula and diapers: $35
• Refrigeration and electricity: $40
With deep gratitude,
Ganesh
