Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Monday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 304 each week. Donations have dropped by about 54% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Nashik market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $450 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $320 • Refrigeration and electricity: $30 • Baby formula and diapers: $100 Thanks for being kind about this. - Suresh

Updates from Suresh

  1. Quick update: $23 raised so far (5%). I made the first payment toward baby formula and diapers. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($73 in total) we've started the first stage. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  • More neighborhoods should do this. Wish I lived closer to Bhaktapur so I could bring a meal. All the best.

Hang in there, Suresh. Shared it with a few friends. Sent it to 24 people at work. God bless.

      • wishing you peace. Great idea, hope you get there. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best.
