Weekly meals for neighbors in need in Machakos
The Open Hands Pantry pantry in Machakos is running low just as demand rises; $400 will stock it for 9 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Saturday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 257 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 51% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Machakos market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $400 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $125
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $155
• Baby formula and diapers: $60
• Refrigeration and electricity: $60
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Best of luck, Janet. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Take care.
Thinking of you and your family, Janet. I hope things turn around soon. We're a small family in Suwon but we're thinking of you. Take care.
reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Greetings from Cardiff
So sorry you're going through this, Janet. Shared this with my family. I went through something like this 7 years ago and strangers helped me out.
