Weekly meals for neighbors in need in Kikuyu
The the Thursday Table pantry in Kikuyu is running low just as demand rises; $550 will stock it for 11 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Friday from the back of a community center. We started with 8 families, and now we feed 158 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 53% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Kikuyu market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $550 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $165
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $280
• Baby formula and diapers: $105
I hope life is good to you.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Jepkoech
Sure. The biggest one is fresh vegetables and fruit, $165. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks for looking so closely.
Sending good thoughts, Jepkoech. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier.
Hang in there, Jepkoech. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't be hard on yourself for asking
