Weekly meals for neighbors in need in Heliopolis
The the Sunday Shelf pantry in Heliopolis is running low just as demand rises; $450 will stock it for 6 weeks.
🇪🇬 Egypt1,024 views
Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Saturday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 8 families, and now we feed 268 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 52% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Heliopolis market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $450 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $115
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $270
• Refrigeration and electricity: $65
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Thanks for sharing this, Rima. I hope things turn around soon. Thinking of Heliopolis
This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in Cebu City donated after I showed her your page. God bless.
Hope things get better soon. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My neighbor in Sukkur donated after I showed her your page. All the best.
Thinking of you and your family. This could happen to any of us. After 25 years in customer support I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Take care, Rima. Shared it with a few friends. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. God bless.
