Weekly meals for neighbors in need in Freiburg
The the Second Helping pantry in Freiburg is running low just as demand rises; $2,650 will stock it for 10 weeks.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Friday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 359 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 38% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 9 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Freiburg market and keep every receipt.
Each $20 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,750
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $480
• Baby formula and diapers: $300
• Refrigeration and electricity: $120
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
