Dehiwala
Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Sunday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 28 families, and now we feed 237 each week. Donations have dropped by about 51% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 15 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Dehiwala market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $250 goes: • Baby formula and diapers: $40 • Refrigeration and electricity: $45 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $165 Thanks for reading all this. - Kavindi

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Kavindi.

      • It's all in the list in the story. baby formula and diapers is the big one at $40, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Good question.

    • sending good thoughts. Gave what I could, wish it was more. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. God bless.

      • Praying for you. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Greetings from Rabat.

        • wishing you peace, Kavindi. Hope this works out for you. All the best.
