The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in Bronx is running low just as demand rises; $3,350 will stock it for 9 weeks.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Monday from the back of a community center. We started with 17 families, and now we feed 291 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 56% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Bronx market and keep every receipt.
Each $45 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $3,350 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,650
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $790
• Baby formula and diapers: $590
• Refrigeration and electricity: $320

Sure. The biggest one is rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale), $1,650. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Ask me anything else.
