Weekly meals for neighbors in need in Biratnagar
The the Sunday Shelf pantry in Biratnagar is running low just as demand rises; $300 will stock it for 10 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Saturday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 21 families, and now we feed 274 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 32% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Biratnagar market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $300 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $110
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $60
• Baby formula and diapers: $85
• Refrigeration and electricity: $45
