Weekly meals for neighbors in need in Bergamo
Ugo runs a volunteer pantry feeding 354 families; this fund restocks shelves for the school holidays.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Monday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 23 families, and now we feed 354 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 47% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Bergamo market and keep every receipt.
Each $40 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,300 goes:
• Baby formula and diapers: $250
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,100
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $950
