Weekly meals for neighbors in need in Bahir Dar
Yared runs a volunteer pantry feeding 396 families; this fund restocks shelves for the harvest gap.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Friday from the back of a community center. We started with 18 families, and now we feed 396 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 60% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 11 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Bahir Dar market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $250 goes:
• Baby formula and diapers: $35
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $160
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $55
Thanks for reading all this.

You're not alone, Yared. Hope you get there. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Love from Mukono
Hang in there, Yared. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double!
Thinking of you, Yared. Shared this with my family. Take care.
