Weekly meals for neighbors in need in Accra
Help keep a free food pantry open for neighbors in need in Accra.
🇬🇭 Greater Accra, Ghana1,843 views
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Wednesday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 9 families, and now we feed 274 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 33% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Accra market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $350 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $220
• Baby formula and diapers: $55
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $75
If you're reading this, thank you.
