Weekly meals for families facing hunger in São Paulo

The Community Pantry pantry in São Paulo is running low just as demand rises; $900 will stock it for 6 weeks.

São Paulo

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Wednesday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 321 each week. Donations have dropped by about 55% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the São Paulo market and keep every receipt. Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $900 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $430 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $210 • Baby formula and diapers: $180 • Refrigeration and electricity: $80 Thank you so much.

Updates from Anderson

Small update. $190 so far, I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($190 in total) I made the first payment toward baby formula and diapers. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Quick update: $155 raised so far (17%). I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
