Weekly meals for families facing hunger in San Diego
The the Sunday Shelf pantry in San Diego is running low just as demand rises; $1,550 will stock it for 9 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Friday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 30 families, and now we feed 339 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 48% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the San Diego market and keep every receipt.
Each $55 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $1,550 goes:
• Refrigeration and electricity: $140
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $790
• Baby formula and diapers: $620
