Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Porto Alegre
The Community Pantry pantry in Porto Alegre is running low just as demand rises; $600 will stock it for 7 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Monday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 29 families, and now we feed 372 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 58% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Porto Alegre market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $600 goes:
• Baby formula and diapers: $140
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $330
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $130

So sorry you're going through this. This could happen to any of us. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Blessings.
