Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Tuesday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 24 families, and now we feed 64 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 34% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 18 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Ogbomosho market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $250 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $155
• Refrigeration and electricity: $45
• Baby formula and diapers: $50
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

will you pay the wholesaler directly?
It comes to me first, then I pay the wholesaler myself and upload the receipt. I wouldn't be comfortable any other way. Good question.
