Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Novosibirsk
The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in Novosibirsk is running low just as demand rises; $700 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Sunday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 28 families, and now we feed 67 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 38% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 18 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Novosibirsk market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $700 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $270
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $220
• Baby formula and diapers: $90
• Refrigeration and electricity: $120
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Thanks for sharing this. This could happen to any of us. Sent it to 38 people at work. Love from Ekurhuleni.
Sending good thoughts, Alina. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My sister had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
hope this works out for you. Love from Denver
Best of luck, Alina. More neighborhoods should do this. Sent it to 12 people at work. All the best.
Sending strength, Alina. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
