Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Thursday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 113 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 60% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 13 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Manila market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $450 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $115
• Baby formula and diapers: $125
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $210

Thank you all. We're at 12% now ($55). I'm honestly stunned. the first invoice got paid this week.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($125 in total) I made the first payment toward baby formula and diapers. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Quick update: $225 raised so far (50%). the plan for baby formula and diapers is now scheduled. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
