Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Latina
Leonardo runs a volunteer pantry feeding 256 families; this fund restocks shelves for the school holidays.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Thursday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 21 families, and now we feed 256 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 51% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Latina market and keep every receipt.
Each $20 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $620
• Baby formula and diapers: $430
• Refrigeration and electricity: $200
