Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Kingston
The Bread & Beans Kitchen pantry in Kingston is running low just as demand rises; $850 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Sunday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 26 families, and now we feed 86 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 57% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 16 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Kingston market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $850 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $330
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $320
• Baby formula and diapers: $130
• Refrigeration and electricity: $70
