Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Jakarta Selatan
The Neighbors' Pantry pantry in Jakarta Selatan is running low just as demand rises; $550 will stock it for 11 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Sunday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 24 families, and now we feed 347 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 52% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 10 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Jakarta Selatan market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $550 goes:
• Refrigeration and electricity: $60
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $300
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $190
