Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Jakarta
Erlangga runs a volunteer pantry feeding 367 families; this fund restocks shelves for the harvest gap.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Saturday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 30 families, and now we feed 367 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 32% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Jakarta market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $350 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $195
• Baby formula and diapers: $65
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $90
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'll check back for the next update. Thinking of Jakarta.

Praying for you. More neighborhoods should do this. It's not much but it's yours. All the best.
Thanks for sharing this, Erlangga. Great idea, hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Los Angeles
