Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Haarlem
The the Harvest Pantry pantry in Haarlem is running low just as demand rises; $3,950 will stock it for 7 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Harvest Pantry every Friday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 16 families, and now we feed 134 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 34% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Haarlem market and keep every receipt.
Each $55 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $3,950 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $2,200
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,100
• Baby formula and diapers: $390
• Refrigeration and electricity: $260
Thank you for reading my story.

thanks for sharing this, Erik. Hope this works out for you. My husband and I read this together
hope things get better soon. More neighborhoods should do this. Wish I lived closer to Aurangabad so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Haarlem.
