The Open Hands Pantry pantry in Guarulhos is running low just as demand rises; $400 will stock it for 12 weeks.

Guarulhos

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Wednesday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 11 families, and now we feed 79 each week. Donations have dropped by about 55% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Guarulhos market and keep every receipt. Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $400 goes: • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $160 • Refrigeration and electricity: $105 • Baby formula and diapers: $135 Glad we found this place.
