Dar es Salaam
Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Friday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 29 families, and now we feed 200 each week. Donations have dropped by about 40% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 15 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Dar es Salaam market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $400 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $180 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $100 • Baby formula and diapers: $100 • Refrigeration and electricity: $20 With deep gratitude, Peter

Updates from Peter

  1. Wanted to say thank you properly. 24% funded and I made the first payment toward rice, beans, flour and oil.

  2. Update from Dar es Salaam: I made the first payment toward fresh vegetables and fruit. We're at 11% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. We're at 3% thanks to 1 of you. I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. More news soon.

Hope things get better soon. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best

        • Thinking of you and your family, Peter. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My neighbor in Sheffield donated after I showed her your page.

          • wishing you peace. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We're a small family in Agra but we're thinking of you
