Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Wednesday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 60 each week. Donations have dropped by about 35% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Abuja market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $450 goes: • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $170 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $220 • Baby formula and diapers: $60 I hope life is good to you. - Adewale

Updates from Adewale

  1. Wanted to say thank you properly. 32% funded and I made the first payment toward baby formula and diapers.

  2. Update from Abuja: the plan for rice, beans, flour and oil is now scheduled. We're at 24% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  • You're not alone, Adewale. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Greetings from Khulna.

    • Hope things get better soon, Adewale. This could happen to any of us. We're a small family in Chattogram but we're thinking of you. God bless.
