Weekly meals for families and seniors in Surakarta
The Community Pantry pantry in Surakarta is running low just as demand rises; $350 will stock it for 11 weeks.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Tuesday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 8 families, and now we feed 396 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 57% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Surakarta market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $350 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $190
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $85
• Baby formula and diapers: $60
• Refrigeration and electricity: $15
