Dayton
Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Sunday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 29 families, and now we feed 335 each week. Donations have dropped by about 59% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Dayton market and keep every receipt. Each $55 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $3,750 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $2,150 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,200 • Baby formula and diapers: $230 • Refrigeration and electricity: $170 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

  • Great idea, hope you get there. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Blessings.

    • Wishing you the best, Raymond. Shared this with my family. We're a small family in Ludhiana but we're thinking of you. Blessings

      • Wishing you the best. Looking forward to the next update. I have a 12 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Take care
