Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in Warren
The Open Hands Pantry pantry in Warren is running low just as demand rises; $3,450 will stock it for 11 weeks.
🇺🇸 Warren, Michigan, United States575 views
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Wednesday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 9 families, and now we feed 362 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 40% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 13 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Warren market and keep every receipt.
Each $50 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $3,450 goes:
• Baby formula and diapers: $330
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $2,050
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,070
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Sending strength, Hannah. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes.
Take care, Hannah. More neighborhoods should do this. Please keep us posted. Love from Radom
