Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Saturday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 214 each week. Donations have dropped by about 51% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 11 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Sherbrooke market and keep every receipt. Each $55 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $2,000 goes: • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,100 • Refrigeration and electricity: $340 • Baby formula and diapers: $560 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot. - Eli

  • Take care, Eli. Your post was clear and honest. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from Kinondoni.
