Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in São Paulo
Beatriz runs a volunteer pantry feeding 349 families; this fund restocks shelves for the school holidays.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Harvest Pantry every Tuesday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 27 families, and now we feed 349 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 55% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 9 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the São Paulo market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $750 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $450
• Refrigeration and electricity: $115
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $185
Thanks for being kind about this.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Beatriz!
It's all in the list in the story. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) is the big one at $450, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Happy to explain more.
Thinking of you. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Take care
Hope things get better soon. Shared it with a few friends. My neighbor in Ciudad de México donated after I showed her your page. All the best.
