Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in Nsukka
The the Second Helping pantry in Nsukka is running low just as demand rises; $550 will stock it for 9 weeks.
🇳🇬 Nsukka, Enugu, Nigeria560 views
Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Tuesday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 29 families, and now we feed 394 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 33% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 15 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Nsukka market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $550 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $310
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $130
• Baby formula and diapers: $70
• Refrigeration and electricity: $40
If you're reading this, thank you.

Wishing you the best. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We're a small family in Fort Worth but we're thinking of you
