Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in Nairobi
The Community Pantry pantry in Nairobi is running low just as demand rises; $500 will stock it for 12 weeks.
🇰🇪 Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya926 views
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Friday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 22 families, and now we feed 206 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 57% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Nairobi market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $500 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $240
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $85
• Baby formula and diapers: $90
• Refrigeration and electricity: $85
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

praying for you, Rose. Shared this with my family. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out
Sending love. Looking forward to the next update. Love from Thủ Đức.
Wishing you peace, Rose. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Thinking of Nairobi.
keep going. Shared this with my family. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
Stay strong. Shared it with a few friends. Wish I lived closer to Dublin so I could bring a meal.
