Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in London

The the Second Helping pantry in London is running low just as demand rises; $1,050 will stock it for 10 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Sunday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 215 each week. Donations have dropped by about 43% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the London market and keep every receipt. Each $30 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $1,050 goes: • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $500 • Baby formula and diapers: $410 • Refrigeration and electricity: $140 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($95 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
